About Us

Fay Singer, Owner

When the IBM store located at 19th & M Streets opened its doors on August 12, 1980 to introduce the first home PC, Fay was there! Fay was born on August 12th -- a few decades earlier. Coincidence? We think not!

In the mid 1980's Fay operated a computer consulting business in Washington, DC. The focus of the business was installing and configuring stand-alone PCs, connecting printers, troubleshooting and training new computer users. Using dBase II, Fay created custom database applications for clients.

In 1989, when local area networks (LANs) were beginning to make their way from the laboratory to the marketplace, Fay accepted a permanent position with Charles E. Smith Construction, Inc. to assist with the installation and configuration of a Novell network. Fay worked with the IT department for various divisions of the Smith Companies through 2002, when the companies were sold. The positions she held included LAN Administrator, Programmer, Programmer/Analyst and Senior Programmer/Analyst.

Fay's technical credentials include certification as a MS SQL Server DBA. She is fluent with numerous programming languages, including SQL, DHTML, JavaScript and Visual Basic. During the years, Fay has developed expertise in PC operating systems from MS DOS through Windows 2000 and XP. She has a working knowledge of all of the mainstream PC software and some of the obscure (anyone remember Edlin). She served on the Borland International Advisory Board and was a featured speaker at several Borland User Conferences. Fay is a graduate of The University of Maryland.

Fay has lived on Capitol Hill all of her adult life. When she's not being a computer geek, Fay is into gardening, cats, fish keeping and digital photography. Visit Fay's home web site at http://faysinger.com.
